ABOUT

Douglas & Company is a Cape Town based architecture and design studio with projects ranging from architecture and interior design to bespoke furniture and collectible design. The studio is led by Liani Douglas.

We see ourselves as makers of things and interested in creating complete environments, so in addition to architectural projects the studio also produces furniture and collectible design items. We believe that good design requires the ability to work in multiple scales, and the transition between proportions and scale is complementary to the studio’s design ethos and development.

Our design focus is on the poetic in addition to the pragmatic, in pursuit to create environments that users have an emotional connection with. Our design process is informed and enriched through the experimentation with materials, texture and form.

ARCHITECTURE

The studio has been honoured with numerous design awards, recognising our commitment to contextual design, craftsmanship and architectural excellence.

Douglas & Company is registered with The South African Council for the Architectural Profession and a member of the South African Institute of Architects and the Cape Institute for Architecture.

DESIGN

Douglas & Company’s debut furniture range, ‘Africana Familia’ was presented at the Design Indaba expo in 2012 as part of the Emerging Creatives Programme, and a collaboration with Mr Price HOME for a locally designed homeware range as part of their Colab Collection followed soon after. In 2015 Douglas & Company participated at 100% Design South Africa as part of the 100% Talent platform, and have exhibited collectible design pieces locally and abroad. Most recently, the studio’s work was included as part of Neofuzz at Also Know As Africa Art Fair in Paris; A New Wave and Extra Ordinary group exhibition at Southern Guild, and Design Days Dubai. All items are designed and made to order in Cape Town, South Africa. We ship worldwide.
